today is the 10th October, which is 14th Syaaban.

today, as been told in hadis [correct me if i'm wrong], the day that the both angles that notes all our good and bad deeds throughtout the year, is going up to the arasy to present the book of deeds to Allah Almighty [trying to say it in simple manglsih-malay english :)]. so today the angles shall open a new bo0k of deeds for the year, and it will be written all our deeds until the next nisfu shaaban.

muslims are encouraged to recite Surah Yasin today for 3 times, the 1st is for Allah to make our Iman stay and stronger to face new challenges, the 2nd is for the fortune [rezeki] which is halal throughout the year, dan the 3rd is for our place in Jannah [heaven] after the day of judgement.

for more info about this, u can consult any muslim friends or preferably Ustazs. they will xplain about this gladly :).

Banjir: Catatan hujan tertinggi dalam 100 tahun

KEPALA BATAS 9 Okt. - Fenomena hujan luar biasa yang menyebabkan banjir di Pulau Pinang dan Kedah sejak seminggu lalu masing-masing mencatat bacaan taburan tertinggi dalam tempoh 100 tahun.

Taburan hujan tersebut dicatatkan oleh Jabatan Pengairan dan Saliran (JPS) di daerah Seberang Perai Utara (SPU) dalam masa lima hari hujan lebat di daerah itu.

Timbalan Menteri Pertanian, Datuk Seri Mohd. Shariff Omar berkata, kawasan yang mencatat taburan hujan tertinggi ialah Ara Kuda sebanyak 607 milimeter (mm), Pinang Tunggal (529 mm), Bumbung Lima (413 mm) dan Ladang Victoria (401 mm).

``Kali terakhir kawasan tersebut mencatat taburan hujan tertinggi sehingga menyebabkan banjir ialah pada tahun 1998 dan 1999,'' katanya kepada pemberita selepas taklimat mengenai perkembangan terkini banjir di Bilik Gerakan Pejabat Daerah dan Tanah SPU di sini hari ini.

Menurut Mohd. Shariff, taburan hujan di negeri Kedah pula hanya mencatat bacaan yang tertinggi dalam tempoh 30 hingga 50 tahun dengan purata hujan sebanyak 200 mm.

Dalam pada itu, beliau meminta Jabatan Pertanian dan beberapa agensi di bawah kementeriannya supaya mempercepatkan proses membuat bancian di kalangan penanam padi yang mengalami kerugian akibat sawah mereka ditenggelami air.

Katanya, arahan bancian itu bukan hanya untuk Pulau Pinang, tetapi merangkumi Kedah dan Perak yang turut terjejas teruk akibat banjir.

how about that? breaking the record of 100 years? if u were here long enough u can felt that this is no ordinary rainfall. the part of Kedah is still flooding. u can see at Wanzu's blog, children have to walk in waters to get into the classro0m. no wonder the ecodrain still cannot contain the rainfall, some even call this the 'floating campus'. not to blame anyone, but as engineers, we have to design things to endure the worst. but then again, we were just humans, there is no 100% sure way of dealing with nature.

i'll get some pics of the campus in waters if it continues to rain tomorrow. if not, it's just the same as my post before, only imagine the roads has some ponds on it :).
